Why Cirque Bon Bon is not your average live show

If you think you know what to expect from a live performance, think again. Cirque Bon Bon is flipping the script on traditional circus and cabaret, and this October, Tauranga gets to see what all the hype is about.

Fresh off a sold-out Australian tour, Cirque Bon Bon is making its way across New Zealand and arrives at Baycourt Community & Arts Centre from 23–25 October 2025 as part of the Tauranga Arts Festival. Created by former Cirque du Soleil director Ash Jacks and award-winning choreographer Julieann Nugent, this fast-paced,

high-glamour production is pure spectacle: a fusion of circus, dance, comedy, and jaw-dropping visuals that leave audiences wide-eyed and grinning.

Not Your Average Circus

Forget what you know about big tops and popcorn. As Glam Adelaide put it, this is a “colourful feast of acrobatic talent”, presented with sophistication and flair. Think world-record foot archery, high-speed roller skates, contortion, aerial hoop, and the kind of technical skill you’d expect from the world’s top performance artists.

Theatre Haus called them "Australia’s (and the world’s) greatest circus artists" and with a show this polished, it's easy to see why.

As DanceLife noted, “the blend of dance and circus makes for a dazzling visual spectacle that keeps the audience guessing and gasping.” The Herald adds that the performers combine strength, grace and humour, making the show “part cabaret, part thrill ride.”

And the cherry on top? It’s all hosted by the outrageously funny Mario, Queen of the Circus, whose comedic timing and fabulous energy keeps the show flowing between acts.

A Visual and Sonic Powerhouse

With a killer soundtrack and sleek choreography, Cirque Bon Bon moves at a pace that keeps you hooked from the first beat. Impulse Gamer compared it to the best of Cirque du Soleil, and On The House said it's “tantalising, hilarious and edge-of-your-seat theatre.”

Expect pulsing beats, glittering costumes, and moments that’ll have you holding your breath one second and cheering the next.
