Hoki Mai is a body of work by two sisters, Rangimarie and Caitlin Jolley (Waikato Tainui). It's an exhibition and collection of poetry and prose about reconnecting with whakapapa. So many Māori have their own stories about the first time they visited their marae, or met their kaumātua, or even the melancholy they feel not being able to do so.
This book launch and exhibition opening represents a journey shared between two members of the same whānau, expressing different perspectives through different artforms. Kūwao and Escape welcome you to this unique conversation between poetry and visual art.
