An evening of narratives and live soundscapes.
One of Aotearoa's most highly regarded writers, Witi Ihimaera, takes to the stage with his latest work of contemporary interpretations of pūrakau, Navigating the Stars: Māori Creation Myths which are lifted to a new dimension, that of performance. He reveals snapshots from his memoirs, mesmerising the audience with Kingsley Spargo creating an ocean of multi-instrumental soundscapes for these works to float upon. The soprano vocal strains of renowned actress Mere Boynton tether these elements optimising the volatile dynamic between the abstract and the familiar.
Electroacoustic duo Alargo (Kingsley Spargo and Alan Brown) enter the narrative to weave sonic masterpieces meeting the truths of Ihimaera's journey, to create a unique and spellbinding evening.
