The Little Big Markets

The Little Big Markets were launched in the summer of 2009 with a simple vision, to create a place that would bring communities together. A place where people could hang out and enjoy their surroundings, enjoy great music, good food and have the opportunity to buy only the best products from a select range of artisans and producers. Markets will be set up and operating from 10am to 2pm.

Capital E’s Bloom Garden

Is it a dinosaur, a spaceship, a chandelier, a cloud? Bloom consists of thousands of identical pink pieces that let children and big kids connect, construct and deconstruct 3D installations with no boundaries or rules. Creating installations with Bloom is like growing an alien garden, cultivating surreal landscapes that are truly one of a kind. Imagination and interaction are the fuel for this organic and collaborative sculpture experience, which is a great way to introduce children to sculpture and design. Free to enjoy from 11am to 1:30pm.

The Incubator Creative Hub

The Edgewater Fan and surrounds will be brought to life with activities from local arts specialists, The Incubator. Live acoustic music is programmed throughout the day, a poetry picnic at midday and then the birthday festivities - cutting of the cake, a mass singing of happy birthday and a game of pass the parcel at 12:30pm. Storytelling, poetry cafe and puppet shows will also feature, as well as, Pint Sized Plays from 16th Ave Theatre. Spend some time looking at the installations and performances or grab some lunch with the Street Food Union food trucks.

Music from Emily Macklow, Chika Adeosun and Adam Mclean.

Poetry with Freddie Bujin, John Baxter, Hermione, Dhaviat and Stella Clark.

Storytelling with Angie Belcher, Debbie Tipuna, Rebecca Larsen and Gaye Hemsley.

Pint Sized Plays with 16th Avenue Theatre

The Edgewater Fan will also host pint-sized plays - 30 min sessions of three funny and utterly ridiculous short-plays celebrating invention and imagination with 16th Ave Theatre. Head into the pop-up theatre at 10:30am, 11:30am and 1:30pm to see a slice of theatre on the waterfront. Also keep your eyes peeled for our youth cast from Jack and the Beanstalk jumping around like jumping beans!
